This is an excellent release which should satisfy many questions asked previously here.

Not sure if this was covered as part of profile privacy, but with this release, does it mean you cannot view someones profile if not a friend of theirs? Also, can users customise what is viewable by different types of friends?

Will a new SSO be required for Joomla for eg with this release?

THANK you to the KickApps team for all of the fab new features coming out in 4.0. I am so excited!! These are some really good features and some of them I was not even expecting -- what a nice treat! They really enhance our communities and will defintely make them a little "stickier".

One queston regarding member points -- are they prorated/retroactive? Meaning the points will be applied to exisiting members retroactively, or dp members start earning points beginning at the time that you enable the points system?

Also I'm assuming that if you use SSO then the enabling user registration and login with 3rd party credentials does not apply (eg you will have to set that up on your own on your end) or does it?

I already have ideas runnung through my head on how I want to use some of the features on my site. Can't wait until Sunday/Monday :-)

First, thanks ethimtemp, Nikkibons, kungfuchris and Claudek for your kind words. We are really excited to put all of these new features into your hands!

@Claudek, Member Profile Privacy has been a feature of the platform for a few months, now. You can enable it in your Affiliate Center on the Configure > Settings > Site Settings page. Members can make their profiles private by going to their MyHome > Edit Profile > Privacy page. In fact my profile page in this community is only visible to my frieds. Try viewing it. In a subsequent release we will offer more fine-grained controls so that users can define what is visible to their friends versus what is visible to anyone (or no one). Right now only profile pages can be private.

Also, all existing SSO implementations should continue to operate as they were prior to this release.

@kungfuchris, if you are using SSO, your members will never see our login page or the login div that pops up on some pages, so they won't be able to log in with our new Facebook, MySpace, OpenID, etc.. support. unless of course you offer that option on your pages.. You can learn more about RPX (the service from JanRain that we integrated) at the JanRain web site.

@Nikkibons, member points are not retro-active. Members begin accumulating points as soon as you enable this feature, and stop earning points when you disable it (old point values are still stored in our database, so if you re-enable it, all of your members' old points will still exist). Note that you can manually apply (or remove) points on each member's details page in the Affiliate Center. Also, if you are using SSO, your members will never see our login page or the login div that pops up on some pages, so they won't be able to log in with our new Facebook, MySpace, OpenID, etc.. support. unless of course you offer that option on your pages.. First of all, thanks guys for the great upgrade, very useful features!

I cant wait to get the SSO - open ID feature working and integrated with my main site.

Here is my QUESTIONS:

1) I understand how to integrate login using the 'old' API. E.g my main site would send member account data  to the KA application. So users would signup on my main site, then the info would be sent to KA.

But now I want to use the new KA Open ID login feature. Therefore, I will use the KA log-in as the initial sign up, then send the member data to the member database on my main site. How do I do this? How do I sync the login details from KA to my main site?

2) I notice that Janrain charge for the RPX product. How does that work with KA? Are you paying them for a premium version, or only using the free offering? If the free one is used, can we upgrade?

This is an excellent idea and would accentuate the addition of the points system tremendously.

We'd like to be able to feature members or media according to their activity from month to month.

We'd like to be able to feature the most popular video or song for the month no matter when it was uploaded.

Is it possible to expand upon the dynamics of the "date range"?

Great release again guys! I'm loving it!

I have a question about points. Is there a way to find out who earned the most points during a specific period of time. So say I wanted to give a reward for members who earned the most points in the month of March -- not to be confused with members with the most points overall over several months.

Is there a way for me to find out who were the top points earners in a given period of time?

Click action is not responding in list widget.

Videos are loading very slow.Most of widget are not working as before.

Also facebook connect is showing error page but it loads user from facebook if refresh the page.


There is also issue with css #ka_mainContainer in play pages and my admin page it have static height ,the height is not expanding.If user add rss feed or comments on play pages.

Hi there, I love a lot of the features that you guys have added.  Just to let you know that some of the external feeds that I had pointed back to kickapps had to be re-created.  Not a big thing (these were just feeds that I had created for groups).  Also I've added a group and it shows up as being active in the affiliate center, but it doesn't show up anywhere on the site.  I have feeds that show my groups but the new one isn't showing up.  It doesn't even show up on the Groups page from the nav bar.  I was wondering if there was something that I'm missing or not.  Do I have to do an extra step to make a group go live?  It's been about 30 minutes or so since I created the group and it still hasn't shown up.

I tried the new version but was very disapointed. and this is why

first its not very customer friendly

the third parties login is almost hiden they are no way the user can really guess this is where you can login with your facebook

I had to spend a lot of time just to find the link. my suggestion

just put the logo of the third parties login below the login (COMMON SENSE)

THE FACEBOOK LOGIN : does'nt work at all, you click login with facebook then nothing it still show you the login page what 's the point of having facebook if you cannot login?

The drupal single sign on escuse my language is crap!!!

keeps showing that eroor message about soap. Yes you did put some instruction on how to fix it but guess what php.net the file that we have to download doesn't have the file you ask us to download. Do you even update your document?

also you ask to put on the server but hey most people use shar hosting and  have limited access to server.

I remember in the pass i was able to have a single sign on whitout having to deal with php.net

so off course that single signon doesn 't work
