  • Password not being sent and one more item

    Hi all,

     

    Due to some SSO issues we set up a direct link right over to our KA community page so members can login directly. The only issue is the password tye set on our site doe not work for the KA site.  So we asked our members to request a password from KA. We have around 4,000K in the community and a good group around 40 people or so are saying the password is not being sent to them when they request it (yes they are checking junk mail). Is there a way to change the password from the site admin for them? Is there another reason they are not getting it?

    The other item is if anyone has multiple accounts how do we cancel one. Is it disable or will this cause all the accounts they have to cancel?

    Disable will only disable the account assigned to that username. With SSO the password on the KA pages shouldn't effect login. All validation occurs on your side of the website and a token is passed to the KA pages which creates a session, there is no validation being done by KA when SSO is enabled.

  • Dan thanks for the help but you missed my quetion

    We turned it all off (SSO etc for validation) and people are just landing on the general community page for our site off KA. People are not getting the password after selecting reset password. Is there a way for us to update the password on the manage members admin page.

    Or is there a reason they are not getting the password sent from KICK APPS.

    It is possible that their mail server is filtering KA emails. What providers are these faulty email addresses using?

    Seems the issue is comcast.net as the majority of the emails are coming from there. There is also one from socal.rr.com. Is there any work around? Again can I go in and update the password via admin. Please help

    We will check with comcast. There was an issue with them last week as well.

    thanks Dan please let me know ... how about changing the password via the ADMIN area that is managing the site?

    There isn't anyway that you can change the passwords as the admin. Only the email address attached to the account can retrieve the password.

    Well that sucks because sine they cannot get their emails, they cannot reset the password and they are locked out. Perhaps something to change or update?

    We have updated our mail servers, Comcast email accounts should now be receiving mail from the platform.

    What is the justification for not allowing admins to reset passwords? This and the username thing seem like designing a car without a steering wheel.

    This isn't something that has been brought up in the past. I will suggest it and see if it is worth the time that it would take to develop.
