  • SSO and Email Verification

    Hi there,

    We use SSO, but don't have email verification turned on.  We auto-register people on kickapps as they sign into our main www site.

    I understand that email notifications and email member updates will only work if we 'enable email verification'?

    My question is - what effect will turning this on have on our SSO?  Will our system of using Combined Member Sign On and Register still work, and will it auto-generate the required activation email?

    Hi Ralph,
    As I understand it, if your site contains adult content and the flag in the database for adult content is set to true, then your members will receive an email verification link. If the flag is set to false, even though email verification is enabled, they will not receive an email and they will be able to log in.

    Aside from those 2 scenarios, everything else should be the same.

    Hi Danny, a quick one: "if your site contains adult content and the flag in the database for adult content is set to true" - this isn't true in our case - we have no adult content, but out of curiosity I wanted to check that the 'flag in the db' wasn't set to true, but can't find a way of doing so. Is this an internal flag or something?

    Hi Danny,
    Sorry to post two questions right away but, okay, this is now turned on, and I think everything works okay. BUT, actions that should generate emails to the user's external email address, such as commenting on their profile, don't. The emails aren't caught in spam, as far as I can see, they just aren't being sent.
    Any ideas?

    These emails will be working properly with our next release. This is platform-wide, not just your site.

    If SSO is configured properly all emails should be working. Everything from the platform is currently in a stable condition.
